Flashback Friday: The Songs that Stayed With Us

'Create

This week's Flashback Friday is on the Songs That Stayed With Us. Perhaps I Go Back by Kenny Chesney helps capture the power of a song to take us back to a place and time.

"Jack and Diane" painted a picture of my life and my dreams.
Suddenly this crazy world made more sense to me.
Well, I heard to today, and I couldn't help but sing along.
Cause every time I hear that song...

I go back to a two-toned short bed Chevy.
Drivin' my first love out to the levvy.
Livin' life with no sense of time.
And I go back to the feel of a fity yard line, a blanket, a girl, some rasberry wine.
Wishin' time would stop right in its tracks.
Everytime I hear that song, I go back.

And here's the Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdeSLxz5TTE

Just like songs can help inspire us when we're writing, books can also inspire songs. Here's a couple of songs that were inspired by books:

There's Greenday's Who Wrote Holden Caulfield, which is making an allusion to the famous MC in Salinger's Catcher in the Rye.

Or Taylor Swift's "Romeo and Juliet", which is on the soundtrack to the upcoming movie Letters to Juliet.

There's David Bowie's "1984", which was inspired by 1984, the George Orwell novel.

Bruce Springsteen's "The Ghost of Tom Joad" inspired by John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath.

And how about Led Zepplin using the Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings to inspire their songs Ramble On, The Battle of Evermore, Over the Hills and Far Away, and Misty Mountain Top.

Here's our own Flashback Fridays: Krista, Debra, Veronica,Kath

It might have been nice if I'd looked at the camera even once, lol. Plus, my dog is mad at me. That is all.

P.S. (Simon Cowell is somewhere drinking heavily at this very moment)

Well, you lose points for not starting at the beginning of the song. Yeah, that's why you lose points.

Heh, heh, yes, that is my Edward doll. Had I not had the stomach flu last night, I would've have a Dancing Duke as well, lol. My video was being weird b/c there's a point at the end when it looked like Chance was tryin gto run away with it.

Bex, if I could have replaced all my parts with Edward doll, trust me, I would have.

Krista---I think enough dogs were traumatized in the making of this video already. (I swear Fergie's not dead!)

Oh, and fyi, that squawking? That would be Jenn's bird, singing along.
